Jesus's return between 2028-2031 - A Biblical approach to estimating the time

Yes, there have been lot's of false dates given for the end of the world and Jesus's return but this approach is simple, clearer and I believe more acceptable according to the Bible.

First, let's clear up one annoying misunderstood verse.
Christians use this verse to argue that we will never know when His return is immanent,

36 But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Matthew 24

First, let's make it clear that this verse is not speaking of the Rapture but of His return to Earth after the tribulation. Matthew 24 is all about the Tribulation period and Jesus's return to earth.
This is clearly explained in this verse,
30 Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
Notice that ALL the people of the Earth will see His coming, so this is not speaking of the Rapture.
Secondly, this restriction may only be for those people who will be in the tribulation period. This does not apply to us who are before the Rapture and the Tribulation. Thirdly, it says they will not know the DAY or the HOUR, it doesn't mention the month or the year. In either case, we could know within months or at the furthest a year.

Here's another verse that might state we're not given to know the time,
6 Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. Acts 1
Jesus didn't say that no one would know the dates or times but that the Apostles would not know. It's obvious that it was not necessary for them to understand at that moment since it would not occur in their lifetime. So it still remains possible that does who would be closer to His coming would understand and perceive the time.

Now here's a very interesting thought before we go on.
In the Old Testament, God clearly revealed to His people Israel in Daniel 9 of the exact day that Jesus would come as the Messiah and die. So why would He not reveal His second coming to His church? I believe He did.
As an added but sad note, even though God told Israel the exact time of His first arrival, they were not ready nor aware or even cared of His coming. Only one person called Simeon in Luke 2:25 is mentioned as waiting because he was warned by the Holy Spirit. Isn't this also what's happening to the church today? If we say we are filled by the Spirit, wouldn't the Spirit reveal the Second coming to His people?

Now to present the possible year of His coming. I say possible because we cannot be sure of the exact year since we are not sure of Jesus's exact year of birth or His exact year of death which we need as a foundation. So we must accept a plus or minus of three years for the year I propose. Scholars have always estimated that the Crucifixion occurred between 27 to 33 AD.

BETWEEN 2028-2031

There are four ways I get to this number,

  • Historical Time Line of 6000 years
    • 2000 years was recorded from Genesis to Abraham's birth.
    • 2000 years was recorded from Abraham's birth to Jesus's death on the cross in 31A.D.
    • 2000 years will be completed on 2028/31
  • Jewish Time Line of 6000 years
    • Jews have been counting the years from Genesis and is currently at 5776
    • 6000 minus 5776 would mean 224 years before the End, but Jewish scholars confirm that over 200 years of Jewish history is missing so if we add a little over 200 years we arrive to 5976 leaving us 24 years which is very close to 2028/31
  • The Land of Israel restored to the Jews
    • Israel became a nation in 1948
    • In the prophetic chapter of Matthew 24, we read, "32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.". Jesus revealed that the "fig tree" which represents Israel will be back in it's land and that the people that will see it "this generation", will also see His return. A generation is approximately eighty years. So if you add eighty years to 1948, we get close to the year 2028/31.
  • The Year of Jubilee
    • In the old testament, God established and demanded that every fiftieth year would be a Jubilee year.  “‘Count off seven sabbath years—seven times seven years—so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years. 9 Then have the trumpet sounded everywhere on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement sound the trumpet throughout your land. Lev. 25:8,9. The historian Josephus wrote that there was a jubilee in the year 27/28 A.D. This fallsprecisely in the year that Jesus began His ministry and actually proclaimed it Luke 4:18,19 to say that He was the Jubilee or the fulfillment of it! If 27/28 was the beginning of His ministry, His death would follow three and a half years later on 31 or 32 A.D.. This would be the beginning of the 2000 year period which is actually 40 Jubilee's (40*50= 2000). 40 represents a period of trial in the Bible. Interesting note, as we read above, at the beginning of the Jubilee, a trumpet is sounded. This fits the trumpet sound of the Rapture.

So here we have four solid reasons why 2028/31 could be one of the years of His return to Earth and the beginning of His thousand year reign as King. I'm not even going into other prophecies that can justify this year like the rise of the European Economic Community and Israel's current situation.

I repeat, since we're not sure when Jesus was crucified, we can't be sure of the exact year of His return.
That being said, it can be just a matter of a year or two.
